Mr. Gwartney grew up in Tallahassee, is a magna cum laude graduate of Liberty University, and a 1991 graduate of the Florida State University College of Law. Mr. Gwartney has dedicated his entire legal career to the zealous representation of those who have been injured due to the negligence of others, and wrongful death litigation, with a particular emphasis on long term care and medical malpractice litigation.
Mr. Gwartney passionately believes that those who reside in group homes, nursing homes and assisted living facilities deserve to be treated with the level respect and dignity required for one who is created in the image of God. The results of Mr. Gwartney’s experience and efforts on behalf of the elderly speak volumes about his level of expertise in the fields of long term care litigation, and other medical litigation. Â Along with Ken Connor, he tried the case of Collins v. Beverly Enterprise-Florida, to a verdict in excess of $12 million, which remains as the largest nursing home verdict in North Florida. Â His work on behalf of his clients has led to dozens of verdicts and settlements of $1 million, or more, with million dollar settlements being posted in three different states.
Mr. Gwartney’s expertise has been recognized by his peers, as he has been named among the Top 100 Trial Lawyers, a Super Lawyer (top 5%), and among the Legal Elite (top 2%). Mr. Gwartney’s practice is very active in all courts in Florida and Georgia, and he is also licensed in Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
